T Mobile (TMobile) Phone Wing Review

Crunch Gear

"T Mobile (Tmobile) also includes an IM client with AIM, Yahoo, and MSN support. Finally, it has all of the apps that make Windows Mobile 6 a more acceptable OS including improved HTML e-mail rendering, improved desktop sync, and a better browser. It has Bluetooth, a 2-megapixel camera, and myFaves support."

It was only about 18 months, but it seemed as if the T-Mobile MDA had been on the market for an eternity. The MDA was an okay handset, but a slow processor and poor voice reception limited its appeal. The new T-Mobile Wing, the MDA's replacement, packs in many notable improvements, including a 2-megapixel camera, a brighter screen, better voice quality, Windows Mobile 6, and a classier overall design. Unfortunately, T-Mobile left the slow CPU intact, making this otherwise powerful handset feel sluggish and sticky to use—not a good thing in mid-2007.

I'm finicky about call quality. In fact, I've rarely lauded a phone's call quality--until now. In my hands-on experience, the navy-blue T-Mobile Wing ($300 with a two-year contract) sounded terrific. While on calls, I heard virtually none of the tell-tale hissing or background noise that usually betrays the fact that I'm on a cell phone. And the people I spoke with noted that I sounded very clear --even while on a noisy jetway at an airport. Call quality isn't the Wing's only strength: It also offers impressive battery life and a strong array of features.

The T-Mobile Wing smart phone runs Windows Mobile 6 Professional Edition and has integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. It sports a revamped design with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard, and it offers a 2-megapixel camera and good call quality.
